Welcome To Second Grade
You’re BRAVER than you believe,
STRONGER than you seem,
And SMARTER than you think.
~A.A. Milne
Our first marking period is almost over. The first few months of school have flown! The children have been busy learning a lot of new material. Below are some things we will be working on this month.
Religion-We are finishing our chapter on Confirmation. We will be starting our unit on the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We will be spending a lot of time working on learning what each of the Commandments mean and how we can follow them.
Math- We are working on addition and subtraction with regrouping. Please continue to practice math facts with your child.
Reading- We are currently working on retelling the story through sequence of events charts. The children have also been working on restating a question when responding to comprehension questions.
English- We are working on possessives, abbreviations, common and proper nouns, and plurals. The children have also been doing various writing activities. They are working on a Turkey in Disguise writing as well as writing about what they would do if they grew a giant pumpkin.
Science- We are learning about the world around us and animals in different habitats.
Social Studies- We are learning about the three branches of our government.
