About St. Joseph Regional Elementary School

Our Mission
Logo New.png

The Mission of St. Joseph Regional Elementary School is to foster the total development of each student’s character and well-being: spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.

The Administration, Teachers and Staff, focused on the teachings of Jesus Christ as rooted in the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, and in the educative program of the Religious Teachers Filippini, provide a compassionate and supportive community to achieve the school’s purpose.

Rooted in this Roman Catholic Christian tradition, the students will recognize and fulfill their call to serve others in Church and Society.

Our History

St. Joseph Elementary School was founded in 1922 by the Pallottine Fathers.  Four years later, the school was staffed by the Religious Teachers of St. Lucy Filippini (www.filippiniusa.org) whose mission is to educate and inspire young people with an awareness that will empower them to influence their world in a Christian manner.

The school has a long history of excellence in education here in Hammonton.  Many of its graduates pursue Catholic education at St. Joseph High School also here in Hammonton or at the other high schools of the diocese.

Accreditation

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is the unit of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region, which includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and several locations internationally.

The Commission is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that defines, maintains, and promotes educational excellence across institutions with diverse missions, student populations, and resources.  It examines each institution as a whole, rather than specific programs within institutions.

To attain Middle States Accreditation is an achievement for any school.  It indicates that the school, its staff, its constituents and community have excelled in their mission. During the 2011-12 school year, St. Joseph Regional School was re-accredited for the period of May 2012 to May 2019.

With the emphasis today on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), the teachers are focused on encouraging the students to accomplish goals set each year. The team that visited the school commended other areas as well: community, organization, leadership, finance, services, and student life.
